The Bitching Hour

I'm not here to bitch about how my life seems to be unfair. I'm not here to bitch about how lonely I am. I'm not here to bitch about the superficial or vain. I am here once again to express my opinion on Gay Marriage and the Bigots that stand in the way of civil equality. I'm here to express my thoughts, the same thoughts that others share but are too timid to express how they feel on the matter.

This is, in no way, an attack on women getting married. Just food for thought. As of late, there have been Bachelorette Party's coming into the bar I work at. Mind you I work in Hillcrest, for those that don't know it's the gay district of San Diego, and as everyone knows in this great state of ours, The GLBT Community have been fighting hard to gain equal rights to marry the one they love. I am sure in no way that the women that come out to Hillcrest for their parties, are in any way, rubbing in the fact they can marry and Gays and Lesbians can't.

As you walk into the club or bar you go to with your pretty white vale, your smart remark shirts and high spirits for a good time; what you don't know, is where you think you are safe and feel you can be yourself amongst the gay community, you are in fact rubbing it in the faces of gays and lesbians at the establishment you go to. I am sure you don't realize is it and some GLBT Community members don't think twice about this and are willing to buy you your shots and help you get on your way of a great night of memories and forgotten ones. The ones that are only seen by a snap shot in time. It just makes me sad, a little jealous, and a bit envious that you can you marry the man you love. Not knowing the feelings of joy you feel when you are popped the question. Envying the anxiety of preparing your wedding. I am sure most of the GLBT Community would love to go through all that Hell just to be able to marry. I know I would. For me the freedom to marry has nothing to do with Religious, Scholastic, or Political beliefs. I want to be able to have the FREEDOM to marry the man I love. This country was founded by men and women in search of freedom. These lands were developed with the ideas that all men and women are created equally. This Nations Ideals derive from the Ideas of Equality amongst it's people.

Women have endured their struggles in the 50's and won. African-Americans endured a hundreds years of slavery and inequality. Now they have their equal Rights just like every other citizen in this nation. We are a nation of diversity. We are diverse in love as well. Why should another Minority group be persecuted by religious beliefs and political stances. They say History repeats its self, in a manner of speaking it does. All I want is to Marry the Man I Love. Is that really going to disrupt your life in any way? Is my Marriage going to effect the way you live, personally? How is it that my Marriage will effect your child in school when there is, and should be, a separation of Church and State? You say that Marriage is sacred and should be between a Man and a Woman. Well it isn't that sacred if you divorce a year or two later or is their a legal time period that makes it OK and Sacred to divorce? Is marriage that sacred, you can split your family in two because your spouse turns out to be a complete and utter asshole or bitch. Marriage is so sacred that in some religions you can take on more than one lover, more than on wife, more than one barer of your children. Marriage is so Sacred......

What I don't understand is how can some of you people just stand there as a friend or family member is being told, "You do not have the same rights as THESE people do, YOU are in fact a MINORITY in this topic, this issue, this abomination of Sanctity." Some of you people can say you have no problems with Gays or Lesbians, some of you will say that you have a Gay or Lesbian Best Friend. Then be the best friend they need and help end this National Hatred.

I am writing this only because I want people to think twice before acting and I am sure some of you would say I should have thought twice before typing this. Well for those of you who have those feelings, your opinion is much appreciated as this is my opinion and thoughts. The freedom to share and write my thoughts is my right as an American Citizen, now lets work on having the right to marry the one we love and end hate.
